Most Anticipated Comics of 2017

Here are some bigly comics releases to look forward to in 2017.

Marvel have their Monsters Unleashed event coming in January written by Cullen Bunn and drawn by Steve McNiven. Also in January The Unstoppable Wasp begins as does the limited series, Deadpool the Duck! RL Stine, the author of the bestselling teen horror series Goosebumps, makes his Marvel debut in March with Man-Thing, a five-issue limited series drawn by German Peralta. And in August we have the latest in the Deadpool “Vs” series with Deadpool v Punisher.

Over at DC the Justice League and the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers crossover in January, written by Tom Taylor and drawn by Stephen Byrne. Batwoman gets the Rebirth treatment in February and the delayed Flash: Earth One and Aquaman: Earth One might appear later on in the year. Warren Ellis returns to DC for the first time in years to relaunch their Wildstorm line with The Wildstorm in February, drawn by Jon Davis-Hunt. There are also rumours of Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo reuniting for a new series, and what about the tease in the first Rebirth issue of the Watchmen joining the DCU – will they be the stars of DC’s 2017 event book?

At Image, Charles Soule and Ryan Browne launch Curse Words in January, Greg Rucka and Leandro Fernandez’s The Old Guard is released in February, and Warren Ellis and Tula Lotay’s long-delayed Heartless might appear sometime in the year too. Sex Crimz makes a welcome return in February and Jeff Lemire’s delayed graphic novel Roughneck is scheduled for April. Noah van Sciver is also working on a sequel to one of my favourite comics of 2015, Fante Bukowski, which will be published in April.
